A prerequisite for participation is the performance of works by European or Russian composers written before 1825 (early music, baroque, classicism). Works by Romanticism composers, regardless of the year of composition, are not allowed to the competition.

GENERAL REGULATIONS
The competition is open to musicians from all over the world.
The competition is held in one round using video recordings. The online competition is not a qualifying round.

Goals and objectives of the competition
The competition is held to support and stimulate the creative growth of musically and artistically gifted children in Russia and other countries of all social categories.
The target orientation of the competition ensures the solution of the following tasks: disclosing the spiritual, intellectual and cultural potential of children through musical and theatrical art, introducing the young generation and listeners to the values of national and world musical culture that are included in the golden fund of the classical cultural heritage, strengthening the importance of the role of the teacher in educating a musician, improving the professional skills of teachers of music schools and children's institutions of additional education, as well as leaders of creative teams, music therapy, involvement in the creative adaptation process of children from orphanages and children with disabilities.
BASIC RULES
- The contestant must fill out an online application (the form can be filled here). Each ensemble / soloist submits separate applications for each nomination.
*The application form on our website is the same for in-person and online competitions.
When filling out applications from mobile devices, follow the provided link to the full application form. - Each participant submits a separate application.
- Be sure to indicate the year of study (or class of the music school) of the participant in the application. There is no special field in the application for this, you can enter these data in the field 11.‘Questions and Preferences’.
- The competition requires the performance of works by European and Russian composers written before 1825 (early music, baroque, classicism). Works by Romanticism composers, regardless of the year of composition, are not allowed to the competition. Please check the stylistic affiliation and year of composition (or first publication) of works before applying. This can be done, in particular, at the International Music Score Library Project.
- The works that are known to be hoaxes are not allowed to the competition. Attention! The work Se tu m'ami" by G. Pergolesi is included in the list of alleged hoaxes, and will no longer be accepted for the competition.
- Competitors indicate in the application in field 5. Program author’s name, title and a link to the video recording of the competition performance.
- Do not send video files as email attachments and do not send download links! Only links to watch videos are accepted. Variants of video files placement: services Cloud Mail.Ru, Yandex.Disk, Google Drive; Youtube, social networks). The video shouldn’t be in private access.
- If the video is not ready yet, you can send the link separately, until 31 January 2022 (inclusive), by email.
- High-quality amateur filming of the performance program is allowed. Please note that low-quality video complicates the formation of an assessment from the jury.
- The recording shall not contain editing and special effects.
- The performance of the competition program by sheet music is allowed only for ensembles, choirs and performers on the organ and harpsichord. Soloists perform the program by heart.
- Changes in the competition program are accepted no later than 31 January 2022.
- If the competitors took part in the competition of previous season, for the competition of 2022 a new program is required.
- The Diploma indicates that the competition is online because the in-person and online competitions «Children in the World of Early Music» are different events. The online competition is not a qualifying round.
- The data in the Diplomas (full name of the participant, full name of the teacher, full name of the accompanist, name of the educational institution) are entered from the application received from the participant. Please check the correctness of all the information entered before submitting the application. Do not indicate in the application names of persons not related to the performance. After the Diploma has been sent, no changes are made to it.
- Contestants can participate in several nominations. Soloists can also participate in an ensemble.
- The organizing committee may request a copy of the participant's passport or birth certificate after the registration.
- The jury may request to provide sheet copies of the works performed by contestants.
- The participant is only billed after submitting an application.
- The organizing committee has the right to limit the number of participants in the competition.
- The organizing committee has the right to use for advertising purposes video and photographic materials provided by the participants for the competition viewing.
- Jury views are held from 31 January to 13 February 2022. The results are published on the page ‘Program’ on 16 February 2022. The diplomas are sent by email within 10 days after the publication of the results (until 26 February).
NOMINATIONS
SOLOISTS:
- ACADEMIC VOCALS
- INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC (wind, string, and percussion instruments, piano (harpsichord, organ), folk instruments)
ENSEMBLES:
- DUETS, TRIOS, ENSEMBLES - instrumental, vocal and vocal-instrumental.
- CHAMBER CHOIRS (12 people and more)
AGE CATEGORIES
The contest is held for participants aged from 5 to 17 years old. The age of participants is indicated as of the time of the video recording. If you cannot determine correctly the age group please contact us by email.
SOLOISTS:
Category A (two groups):
- A1 - participants under the age of 8 years
- A2 - participants aged 10-11 years
Category B
- participants aged 12-14 years
Category C
- participants aged 15-17 years.
ENSEMBLES:
Do not indicate the arithmetic mean of the participants' ages or the mixed category in the application! The age category of the ensembles is determined by the Organizing Committee. To do this, you need to indicate in the application in field 3. Age of participants:
- either ages separated by commas (e.g., 11, 13, 14, 16);
- or age limits (e.g., 11-16) and in the field 11. ‘Questions and Preferences’ - the number of participants from each category (e.g., up to 11 years old - 1 person, 12-14 years old - 2 people, 15-17 years old - 1 person).
Within one category, up to 20% of participants of a different age are allowed.
Category A
- Participants under the age of 11 years
Category B
- participants aged 12-14 years
Category C
- participants aged 15-17 years
Mixed category
- participants aged 5-17, presence of participants from one category less than 80% of the total.
COMPETITION PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
- General requirements for competitive program:
It is compulsory to perform works by European and Russian composers written before 1825 (early music, baroque, classicism). Works by Romanticism composers, regardless of the year of composition, are not allowed to the competition. It is possible to perform arrangements, including arrangements made by the participant's teacher. The works that are known to be hoaxes are not allowed to the competition. Attention! The work "Se tu m'ami" by G. Pergolesi is included in the list of alleged hoaxes, and will no longer be accepted for the competition.
The program shall correspond to the year of study (i.e. not be simplified).
- Requirements by nominations and age categories:
SOLOISTS:
- Category A - one work, no more than 5 minutes in length.
- Category B - one work, no more than 6 minutes in length.
- Category C - one work, no more than 8 minutes in length.
ENSEMBLES:
- Category A - one work, no more than 5 minutes in length.
- Category B - one work, no more than 6 minutes in length.
- Category C - one work, no more than 8 minutes in length.
- Mixed category - depending on the age composition of the participants, one work, no more than 8 minutes in length.

MARIA MAKSIMCHUK
Head of the baroque consort «Tempo restauro». Conductor of the Moscow Academic Musical Theater, Guest Conductor of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia. Lecturer at The Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
SERGEY ZAITSEV
Honored Artist of the Russian Federation. Graduate of the Novosibirsk State Conservatory (vocals), Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (musical theater director). Teacher, member of the jury of all-Russian and international competitions.
IRINA ZAITSEVA
Graduate of the Novosibirsk State Conservatory. Gives concerts in Russia, Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands. Teacher, member of the jury of all-Russian and international competitions.
OLGA TERENTIEVA
Honored Artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan. Graduate of The Gnesin Russian Academy of Music. Leading soloist (soprano) of The Kolobov Novaya Opera Theatre of Moscow. Lecturer at the International Gymnasium «Flagman». Actively concerts in Russia and abroad.
ANDREY SPIRIDONOV
Graduate of The Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (cello and composition). Professor of the Moscow State Conservatory, took an active part in the creation of Faculty of Historical and Contemporary Performing Arts, where he teaches classes of baroque cello. Soloist of the ensembles «Baroque», «Academy of Early Music», «Orfarion». Founder of the Baroque Soloists ensemble, with whom he implements his concept of 18th - early 19th century music, «Northern Parnassus».
NATALIA KOSAREVA
Graduate of The Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. Soloist of the baroque consort «Tempo restauro», the ensemble «Opus Posth.» conducted by T. Grindenko, baroque orchestra «Pratum Integrum» conducted by P. Serbin.
EKATERINA TUGARINOVA
Graduate of The Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and postgraduate studies at the Mozarteum University of Arts, Salzburg, Austria. Soloist of the early music ensemble «NeoBarocco», she regularly takes part in the projects of the ensemble «Questa Musica» conducted by Ph. Chizhevsky. For many years she collaborates and tours in Russia and Europe with organist Maria Mokhova (Germany).
NIKOLAY POPOV
Graduate of The Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory, continued his postgraduate studies at the Munich Higher School of Music and Theater with prof. A. Adoryan. He trained at ECMA in Poland with prof. O. Nicole. Laureate of all-Russian and international competitions, scholarship holder of the Gartow Stiftung, Villa-Musica and Live Music now funds. Soloist of the concert and philharmonic organization «Petersburg-Concert», The Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, orchestra of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia. He teaches at Moscow State Schnittke Institute of Music, gives master classes in Russia and abroad. Member of the jury of the XVIII International Television Competition for Young Musicians «Nutcracker».
ELENA TARASOVA
Laureate of international competitions, teacher of The Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, artistic director of a number of musical projects, member of the World Piano Teachers Association.
ANNA NIKOLAEVA
Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation, Vice-President and teacher-methodologist of the A.N. Scriabin Foundation. She graduated from The Gorky State Conservatory with a major in Piano. Over the years, she taught in The State Music and Pedagogical Institute n.a. Ippolitov-Ivanov and the Music School n.a. A.N. Scriabin in Moscow.
TATIANA NIKANDROVA
Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Kalmykia. Graduate of the Saratov State Conservatory n.a. L.V. Sobinov in piano. Lecturer at the Elista Art School n.a. P. Chonkushov, since 2013 - Novorossiysk Music College n.a. D.D. Shostakovich.
ANDREY CHERNYSHOV
Lute teacher at the State Academy of Arts n.a. Maimonides. Founder of the Lute School and artistic director and soloist of the early music ensemble «Canto Vivo».
OLGA KOSIBOROD
Honorary Worker of Culture of the City of Moscow. Associate Professor of the Department of Theory and Methods of Socio-Cultural Activities, Moscow State Pedagogical University. Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Director of Music Programs of the Russian Academy of Arts. Director of international festivals and competitions. Artistic Director and Conductor of the Hoffmann Choir.
Jury holds a closed discussion. President of the Jury has the right to raise or lower the result by no more than 5 points. The jury's decisions are final and are not subject to revision.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
Performance technique (form, rhythm, phrasing, intonation); compliance with style; the complexity of the program and compliance with the year of study; artistry.
The maximum number of points is 100.
The titles of Laureates of I, II and III degrees are awarded in each age category. By decision of the jury, a certain title may not be awarded.
According to the number of points scored, the competitors are awarded the following titles:
- Grand Prix is awarded on the decision of the Jury
- Laureate of I degree - awarded to one competitor in each age category
- Laureate of II degree - awarded to one or two competitors in each age category
- Laureate of III degree - awarded to one, two or three competitors in each age category
- Participant Diploma
The jury's decisions are final and not subject to revision.
PRIZES AND GIFTS
All participants are awarded with Diplomas, according to the received competitive estimates. The diplomas and acknowledgments to teachers are sent after the publication of the results in to the email address specified in the application. If you want to receive a diploma or an acknowledgment in printed form by Russian Post (an additional paid service for participants who do not have the opportunity to print award documents), please note that only electronic seals and signatures are put on diplomas (i.e. diplomas are not signed manually).
Special prizes of the newspaper «Musical Klondike» have been established for the participants and teachers.
Competition partners can award special prizes to participants, teachers and accompanists.
Individuals and organizations have the right to establish their own prizes in agreement with the Organizing Committee.
FINANCIAL CONDITIONS
The cost of one participation is RUB 1,500 per application (i.e. RUB 1,500 from a soloist for one solo performance, RUB 1,500 from a collective for one collective performance).
Entry fee includes:
- Participation in one nomination
- Diploma (in electronic form*)
Surcharge* (optional) for printing and sending a diploma by Russian Post - RUB 300 per document. A bill will be sent upon request.
The competitor has the right to participate in additional nominations. The cost of the additional nomination is equal to the cost of the main one.
The participant is only billed after submitting an application. Please check your email promptly.
Confirmation of all payments shall be received by the Organizing Committee strictly before 02 February 2022 (inclusive). Please consider bank and accounting holidays and apply early to pay on time. Participants who submit the application on time and do not pay the fee before the deadline are not admitted to the contest.
Payment of entry fees is made to the settlement account of LLC "Diversified company “Art-Center Plus”. The fees shall be paid in full to the Organizing Committee, taxes and bank charges are paid by the applicant. Paid fees are not refundable.
The organizing committee has the right to limit the number of participants.
The organizing committee has the right to use for advertising purposes the materials provided by the participants for the competition viewing.
The organizing committee reserves the right to change the regulations.
Submission of an application implies acceptance of the terms of this Provision.
